NE Coast
NE Coast
The Northeast Coast is bounded by the sea on one side and mountains on the other; it is interspersed with bays and capes characterized by fantastic rock formations and precipitous cliffs, expansive sea-eroded landscapes, fine golden-sand beaches, and an abundance of oceanic ecology. The coast is also the location of a plain and rustic culture as well as historic sites; it is a place, indeed, that serves as a natural classroom for education as well as a coastal recreation area for active participation: an all-purpose tourist destination.

Jioufen

Jiufen village was once the gold mining city of Asia and was called the little Shanghai or little Hong Kong. It seems that the prosperous old streets, buildings, mines and the glamorous gold digging days are flashing before our eyes. The place is whispering its golden past.

Now, there are many unique teahouses in Jiufen. The most prosperous shopping district is on Jinshan Street. Along the street there are shops vending the most famous country snacks of Geo Fan, historical items which are well reserved. The trip to Jiufen is full of fun and delights. Jiufen has many family inns provided by local residents.

Chinkuashih

Chinkuashih was once a booming gold and copper mining town. In 2002, Chinkuashih was named a potential World Heritage site. These old mining facilities can be transformed into a scenic spot, with many of the park's original buildings being re-used as exhibition space. The grassy hills of Chinkuashih overlook Taiwan's northeastern coastline and the South China Sea providing a great place to get away and do nothing at all.

The volcanic terrain and the geological landscapes here are the most representative characteristics of Yangmingshan National Park. The geologic features produced by volcanic activities, crater lakes, sulfur fumaroles, geothermal energy, and hot springs have value for both research and recreation.

Hot Spring

The volcanic terrain that gives Yangmingshan a limitless supply of geothermal resources and makes it an ideal place for hot-spring bathing. The hot springs here are located within the scenic area of the Yangmingshan National Park so that they are surrounded by enchanting scenery that makes this a fine spot for savoring the beauties of nature.

The hot spring water of Yangmingshan is mostly clear, but some of the springs produce greenish water.
