Tainan Train Station- front gate / Major Tainan Hotels

Duration:

Itinerary:

Scenic Spot & Introduction:

Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple¡iSacrificial Rites Martial Temple¡jThe temple was called the Daguandi Temple during the Jhengs rule. At the beginning of construction, the Ching Court deliberately raised the status of Guan, Yun-jhang in an attempt to separate Yue, Fei (a famous general in the Song Dynasty who fought bravely against foreign races from invading China), in order to avert the anti-Manchurian thought. Later, Guan became the only deity worshipped in Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple, and the temple even became a shrine where government rituals were held.

Great Queen of Heaven Temple¡iGreat Queen of Heaven Temple¡jThere are two dragon patterns, one rising and another diving. There are flower and cloud decorations in between. The layout is simple and clean, giving a vivid effect. It is one of the best stone sculptures in Taiwan. Dragon columns in the worshipping hall are clean and powerful in style, and they are the masterpieces of dragon columns in Taiwan of the mid-Ching Dynasty. Each green granite column has one dragon sculpture, and lotus decorations cover all around the head. It is very rare and is quite different from the brilliant dragon columns of the Sanchuan Gate in front of Guaninshan.

Chihkanlou¡iChihkanlou¡jBoth the Haishen Temple and Wenchang Pavilion have double-eave round hip roofs, and the top eave has long corners curving upward. The tail has leaping carp decorations spitting out bubbles. These decorations have formed a fabulous and vivid picture. After the successful suppression of the revolt led by Lin, Suang-wun during the Cianlong Reign, Emperor Cianlong wrote five epics to commemorate the event. He also made them inscribed on stone tables in Manchurian and Chinese. These tablets are the stone turtle tablets at Chihkanlo. They are the most magnificent and characteristic tablets in Taiwan.

Tainan Confucius Temple¡iTainan Confucius Temple¡jAlso known as Cangjing Canisters, Tongtian Canisters are two pottery canisters erected on both sides of the central ridge of Dacheng Hall. It is said that the canister was invented by the great scholar Chu, Si after realizing the greatness of Confucius. Another source tells that the canister is a commemoration of the successful escape from the burning books order of the First Emperor of China. They are the unique ridge decoration of Dacheng Hall in Confucius Temple. There is a copper bell on each winged corner of the lower eave. In addition to the decoration function, these bells understate the idea that a teacher is like a bell which wakes people with morality.

Anping Nostalgic Melody Experience Half-day Tour B

Departure Time:

09:00

Departure Point:

Tainan Train Station- front gate / Major Tainan Hotels

Duration:

3~3.5 hours

Itinerary:

Departure ¡÷ Eternal Golden Castle ¡÷ Lin Mo-Niang Park (Pass by) ¡÷ Cha-Ha-Mu Aboriginal Park (Pass by) ¡÷ Anping Minor Artillery Fort ¡÷ Merchant House of Tait &Co. / Tree House ¡÷ An-ping Kaitai Matsu Temple ¡÷ Old Fort of Anping ¡÷ Yanping Historical Street ¡÷ Return

Scenic Spot & Introduction:

Eternal Golden Castle¡iEternal Golden Castle¡jThere are four bastions at the corners of the fortress. Each of which is equipped with a cannon. Cement counter-forts that run through the fortress and bastions often appear in pairs. A wooden drawbridge should be located at the entrance of the fortress. It was destroyed by the Japanese during the Japanese Colonization. The concrete bridge we see today is a remake. Above the fortress door, we can see the tablet read "Eternal Golden Castle" written by Shen, Bao-heng.

Anping Minor Artillery Fort¡iAnping Minor Artillery Fort¡jLocated in the west of the remains of Taiwan City, the long and narrow ward of the fortress extends from south to north. The fortress has a cannon base and the ward in the north. The cannon base made with granite and pebbles is located next to the Pond Park. There are six brick battlements on the south, north and west sides and a magazine below. The base has glazed floorings and was originally equipped with British BP cannons (using 9-pound cannon balls).

Old Fort of Anping¡iOld Fort of Anping¡jWe can see semi-circular forts on all sides of the city. The bricks of the fort¡¦s foundation are still there. The city wall in the west is about 3-foot, 12.5-inch thick. Marks of heightening and widening are still seen. In the south of Zeelandia, we can still see the holds for beams on the wall. Lookout towers and museum at today's Anping Castle.

Merchant House of Tait &Co.¡iMerchant House of Tait &Co.¡jSituated in the north and facing the south, it is a 3-story building with the main stairway located at the center. The first floor was the employee dormitory with the hallway in the middle. There are three rooms on each side of the hallway. There are arcades in the east, west and south of the building. The layout of the second floor resembles that of the first floor, except the arcade which is decorated with green glaze vases. As the wall is in white, it is quite different from traditional buildings in Fujian style. The roof divided into left and right sections is supported with truss and covered with tiles. All has four slopes for drainage. In general, Western people often used arcades when they built houses in Taiwan to shelter heat and rain. Therefore, ¡§arch¡¨ became an important element in Western buildings in Taiwan. The Tait & Co., is a typical example.
