Emerging technologies such as information technology, silicon-on-chip, the content, computer, communication, and consumer electronics, biomedicine, bio-informatics, and energy are crucial to the current and future economy of Taiwan. Numerous outstanding scientists and technologists in US leading these emerging fields of critical technologies were born in Taiwan or are closely related to Taiwan. Emerging Information Technology Conference was, therefore, established in Princeton, New Jersey, USA in 2001 in order to bring scientists and technologists from US and Taiwan together to brainstorm future emerging information technology trends and sharing experiences. In 2007, the conference was held again in Princeton. This time, in order to include new emerging technologies in the conference, the Executive Committee of EITC decided to change the name of the conference to Emerging Information and Technology Conference. Various new technologies such as bio-informatics and renewable energy technology were introduced into this conference.
EITC has mainly been held in US. The only previous conference that was held in Taiwan was in 2005 when it was held on the campus of National Taiwan University. It is the honor of National Cheng Kung University to have the chance to host the 2008 EITC on the campus of NCKU. We are looking forward to a very productive EITC 2008
