Background

We have organized the first International Symposium on Advanced Ceramics and Technology for Sustainable Energy Applications (ACTSEA-2007) was held on Nov. 4-7, 2007. Around 100 professionals from more than 10 countries have attended the Symposium. Based on the great success of the ACTSEA-2007, we will organize the 2nd International Symposium on Advanced Ceramics and Technology for Sustainable Energy Applications (ACTSEA-2009) on Nov. 1-4, 2009. The purpose of this symposium is to provide an international scientific forum for discussion and exchange of ideas on the up-to-date research and development of advanced ceramics for renewable energy and energy efficient applications.

Material technologies to achieve sustainable energy have attracted worldwide attentions in recent years. Among these technologies, engineering ceramics are used for their potential benefits, including high temperature stability and environmental friendliness etc. Recent interests and advances in nano-ceramics have opened new vistas for energy applications. The participants from industries, universities, and research laboratories will discuss recent advances, developments, field applications, and future challenges for creating ceramics with unusual properties as well as for bringing these ceramics to the marketplace. The presentation and discussion will focus on both basic science and technology aspects. This will result in an improved science and technology base that will ultimately serve to accelerate the development of advanced ceramics for sustainable energy applications.
